About Sibarani Sofian

Sibarani Sofian is a passionate urban practitioner, pioneering business leader, and one of Southeast Asia’s most respected voices in strategic city-making. With over two decades of experience across Asia—especially in Indonesia—he has led the creation of large-scale, sustainable urban developments through an integrated, multidisciplinary approach. Driven by the goal of making cities better places to live, work, and thrive, Sibarani has contributed to award-winning master plans across Vietnam, China, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, and India. His expertise blends visionary planning with real-world execution, grounded in a deep understanding of infrastructure, culture, and local dynamics. Sibarani’s early career included leadership roles at renowned international firms such as SOM, EDAW, AECOM, and RSP Architects. In 2007, he was among the first to pioneer AECOM’s Design & Planning studio in Singapore, scaling it into a regional powerhouse. Later, as Country Manager for AECOM Indonesia, he expanded the team to 160 professionals and established a robust multidisciplinary presence. In 2017, he founded URBAN+, an independent urban design practice focused on future-forward, infrastructure-driven planning. Under his leadership, URBAN+ has become a trusted partner for government agencies and private developers alike—leading major TODs, Aerotropolis plans, port cities, and mixed-use communities. The firm also advises cities like Bogor and Bandung, and collaborates with Indonesia’s Ministry of Public Works and Green Building Council.
