Design Conversations That Mattered: Pune Edition Recap
The Pune Edition of Design Perspective, an initiative by FOAID, was held at The Westin Koregaon Park and proved to be a resounding success. With over 300 architects and designers in attendance, the event brought together leading minds from the design fraternity for an evening of inspiration, exchange, and connection.
Event Overview
Beginning at 5 PM, the event welcomed professionals from Pune’s architectural and interior design landscape. The atmosphere was vibrant and engaging, with attendees participating in insightful presentations and meaningful conversations that emphasized innovation, sustainability, and future-ready design thinking.
Brand Showcase
The evening featured a curated showcase of innovative brands who presented their latest offerings and engaged with the audience through immersive product displays. Participating brands included Godrej Locks & Architectural Solutions, Classic Marble Company, Nexion Surfaces, Everest Industries, Lauritz Knudsen, MCM Flexi Cladding India, Kalinga Stone, Hybec, Life Fitness India, Vox Interior and Exterior Solutions, Viva Composite Panels, Schueco India, Schindler, Jalaram, Marvel Decor, and Wesmarc Super Doors. Each brought a unique perspective to the table, demonstrating sustainable solutions, cutting-edge materials, and progressive design technologies that resonated with the audience.
Keynote Presentations
The event’s keynote session began with an inspiring talk by Carl Almeida, Partner at P49 Deesign, Thailand, who shared insights into the firm’s remarkable hospitality projects across India and Southeast Asia. His presentation highlighted iconic developments such as Raffles Udaipur, Leela Palace Jaipur, and Fairmont Mumbai, offering the audience a deep dive into the philosophy behind creating world-class experiences.
This was followed by a powerful keynote by Ar. Seema Puri, Principal Architect at SEZA Architects, who brought a rich Indian perspective to the evening. Through a showcase of her work—ranging from private residences to corporate guest houses and commercial complexes—she emphasized design rooted in context, scale, and emotion. Her session struck a chord with the audience, especially in how she addressed diverse typologies with the same clarity and intent.
Networking Mixer
Post the presentations, attendees moved into a networking mixer where they could interact one-on-one with brand representatives, speakers, and peers. This informal segment of the evening proved to be invaluable for both knowledge sharing and professional collaborations, enhancing the spirit of the design community in Pune.
Felicitation & Closing
The evening concluded with the felicitation of the keynote speakers, honoring their contribution to the profession and the event. A gala dinner a nd cocktails followed, allowing attendees to unwind and continue conversations in a relaxed, celebratory setting.
